‘Mighty oaks from little acorns grow’, as the proverb has it. This can certainly be said of London International Disputes Week, which has grown like topsy since its foundation just seven years ago.
LIDW26, previewed at an agreeable Law Society soiree on Tuesday, is going to be another whopper. Titled ‘Tradition, Trust and Transformation in International Dispute Resolution’, this year’s event takes place from 1-5 June.
Its flagship once again will be a one-day plenary at Westminster’s QE2 centre, but there will also be no fewer than 360 member-hosted events across the capital. There’s even a ‘NextGen’ social at Boulebar on the South Bank for the jeunesse doree, to swap litigation tips over a few jeux of pétanque.
Is LIDW already bigger than the International Bar Association’s annual beanfeast - traditionally regarded as the biggest convocation of lawyers on the planet? Possibly. Depends how you tot up the numbers. At all events, the Gazette is delighted to be a media sponsor of LIDW26.
