The scramble to recruit top legal talent has led to six-figure salaries in the City and firms falling over themselves to cast themselves as welcoming places to work.

Now there appears to be a new front open in the recruitment battle – a free game or two of 10-pin bowling.

Liverpool firm High Street Solicitors is searching for 80 staff to double its existing team and expand its work in data breach, employers liability, disrepair, Japanese knotweed, medical negligence and mis-sold investment claims. Newly-created roles range from front of house staff to solicitors and heads of department.

Rather than the conventional job advertisement, the firm will host an evening at Pins Social Club in the city on 10 March where heads of department will be available for chats around the jobs available and the culture at High Street Solicitors.

Bowling, drinks and food will be provided for those attending and games are encouraged during where prospective employees can gather to meet like-minded people. Whether you will strive to beat your potential boss or let them win is a matter for potential recruits to consider.

Obiter likes the idea of recreating a 12-year-old’s perfect evening out as part of its search for new staff. Perhaps another firm could host a night at Laser Quest and dinner at Pizza Hut for its own recruitment drive.
