Veteran defence solicitor Karen Todner had cause for celebration last week after the convictions of her client, former City trader Tom Hayes, were quashed by the Supreme Court.
Asked at the subsequent press conference what she had learned from her nine-year involvement in the case, Todner said: ‘I cannot say it’s been a financially beneficial case to work on’, to much audience laughter. ‘But it has been fascinating. I think what I take away from it is never give up, keep fighting. We have been knocked back and knocked back… but you have to pick yourself up and keep going, and that’s what we’ve done, and we’ve finally got there.’
