Many thanks to Chester firm Cullimore Dutton for reminding us that, even in the bleakest mid-winter, spring is just around the corner. This view of 20 White Friars is definitely a contender for our most aesthetically pleasing law firm premises. The firm has been practising from that address since 1792, on a site formerly occupied by the Carmelite Friary of the White Friars of Chester, established in about 1290. Following the dissolution of the monasteries, the site passed into the ownership of Thomas Egerton, attorney general to Queen Elizabeth I. (The firm has the original conveyance deed dated 1568.) The present building probably dates from 1742.
