Magic circle firm Slaughter and May ran rings round its legal competitors last week. At the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay, of course.

Its team was one of six law firms to take part in the race that saw more than 1,000 City workers sprint through London’s Square Mile. Each of the 108 teams consisted of 10 people who had to run one mile apiece.

Slaughter and May finished fifth overall in the competition, running the race in an impressive 58 minutes and 59 seconds. Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co (12th place) did the course in 1:01:19; DLA Piper (26th place) in 1:06:29; Allen & Overy (35th place) in 1:08:05, Pinsent Masons (60th place) in 1:12:22, and Willkie Farr & Gallagher (91st place) in 1:17:48. Obiter was unable to take part personally but deputed the Gazette’s two best sprinters (pictured) for a journalists’ team. It didn’t win.
