A trainee solicitor has just missed out on the title of Miss Universe Great Britain but has vowed to keep competing in pageantry.

Chloe Lake, a trainee with Northamptonshire firm Wilson Browne Solicitors, secured a top 10 finish after a gruelling and intense weekend of physical challenges and interviews in Newport.

Lake vows to keep competing in pageantry

The event started with an empowerment day where Chloe was invited to share her story of recovering from a period of poor mental health to running the London Marathon. She was able to celebrate with two colleagues from her firm who joined her for a charity ball the same evening and supported her through the weekend.

She completed various challenges including walking over broken glass and came through an interview in front of a six-person judging panel before placing in the top 10 out of 30 competitors. Liverpool’s Jessica Page won the contest and will represent Great Britain at Miss Universe in El Salvador.

Reflecting on her experience, Chloe said: ‘I will definitely be competing again – after taking some time away from competing to focus on my studies, competing at Miss Universe Great Britain has certainly reignited the ambition I have to represent the UK internationally – and to really maximise the platform I am given through competing to highlight the importance of mental health awareness and social mobility; issues that I care about hugely.’
