Obiter was among many who were surprised when Vidisha Joshi announced she was stepping down as managing partner of London firm Hodge Jones & Allen after three years in the post.

Giving the annual Fiona Woolf lecture at the Law Society last month, Joshi said her decision to quit was not easy and took many months: ‘But sometimes you just have to be brave.’

She gave little away when asked by an audience member about her next move. ‘Do I be brave and look at what else is out there? I’ve been exposed to so many sectors in this role. I want to take all that and try to do something,’ she said.

‘Brave’ is certainly the word that came to mind when Joshi revealed she was taking part in Ultimate Fitness Thailand.

She tweeted: ‘Training has always helped me focus and re-energise, not to mention help me de-stress. This is home for the next few weeks, am a bit scared but will give it 100%.’
