The week’s most high-profile move saw five insurance and reinsurance partners leave City firm Denton Wilde Sapte for the London office of US firm Chadbourne & Parke: Adrian Mecz, Christopher Cardona, Michelle George, John Barlow and Mark Pring.



Also in the capital, Andrew O’Keeffe joins the banking and finance division at Maxwell Batley as a partner from Simmons & Simmons, where he was a senior solicitor.

Gerry Kamstra joins the life sciences and intellectual property team at Bird & Bird, also moving from Simmons & Simmons.


Property specialist David Earl succeeds Robert Dolman as senior partner at Wedlake Bell. After a decade in the post, Mr Dolman will focus on his private client practice.



Tracy Fisher joins the corporate tax practice at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary from national firm Hammonds.



Banking specialist Caroline Mills is promoted at Carter Lemon Camerons and Simon Levy joins from Davenport Lyons, where he was a senior associate, to lead the company commercial team.



East London firm Adams has promoted Sean Sydenham, who heads its corporate and finance division and set up its Canary Wharf office, to partner.



Outside London, there are a significant number of partner promotions.

David Earl: made senior partner at Wedlake Bell


In the south-east, Guildford firm AWB Partnership has promoted Mark Lucas (head of company/commercial) and Jonathan Compton (commercial litigation).



Moving west, Meryl Morgan, head of the banking team at Morgan Cole in Wales, has been appointed partner.



A J Weston & Co in Hereford promotes property specialist Ellen Watkins.



In the midlands, Birmingham firm Putsman.wlc welcomes three new partners: Debbie Irwin from Hammonds in Birmingham and Beverley Money from Freeth Cartwright in Derby join the commercial property team, while Keith Spedding joins the corporate team from Wragge & Co in Birmingham.



Property specialist Jon Smart joins the Nottingham office of Freeth Cartwright from the local practice of regional firm Gateley Wareing.



Manchester firm Fentons has promoted Matthew Evans in the personal injury department.

Two new assistants at City firm Kingsley Napley: Jurga Drazdauskaite joins the business immigration team from London firm Gherson & Co and Andreas White joins the employment team from Gerrards Cross-based BP Collins.


Pinsent Masons expands its pensions team in London: Raj Sharma joins as associate from Slaughter and May, and Kate Wild joins as assistant from Eversheds.



Stephenson Harwood appoints Michael Woods as senior planning associate; he moves from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where he was a senior environmental advisory lawyer.



Wedlake Bell appoints assistant Michael Ridsdale in its corporate tax practice from accountancy firm Deloitte.


South London firm Glazer Delmar hires Joanna Brown, formerly at North Cheam-based Brand & Co, as associate and head of its family department.


Janet Long joins Pritchard Joyce & Hinds in Beckenham as a litigation assistant from Richard Lawrence & Co in Penge.

AWB Partnership in Guildford has promoted Jo Farr to associate in the commercial team.


Jonathan Phillips joins Hewitsons in Cambridge as an assistant in the construction team, moving from Luton firm Taylor Walton.



Jennifer Andrews joins the employment team at Bristol firm Burroughs Day as an assistant solicitor from Eversheds in Cardiff.

The firm also welcomes three assistants: Serdar Mehmet joins the commercial property department from Bromley-based Thackray Williams, Sam Payne joins the insolvency team from Wright Hassall in Warwickshire and Shanthi Thambapillai joins the intellectual property team on qualification.



Derby firm Flint Bishop & Barnett has appointed Ran Oren as a corporate assistant from Eversheds in Nottingham.



Brabners Chaffe Street in Liverpool has recruited two property assistants: Tom Dickinson from Laytons in Manchester and Alan Woodward, who qualified at Bullivant Jones & Co (now part of Hill Dickinson).



In Manchester, Fentons promotes Alistair Macdonald, Andrew Taylor, Damien Bradley and Naomi Wilson to associates in the personal injury team, while Deborah Anderson joins the department as an associate from Irwin Mitchell in Leeds.
