In the City,
Herbert Smith has unveiled a change of leadership in its finance division with Jason Fox replacing Clive Barnard, who returns to full-time fee earning. The firm has also promoted nine to partnership: Kevin Roy, Thiha Tun, John Geraghty and James Milne (corporate); Malcolm Hitching and Alison Deeth (finance); Matthew White (real estate); Rebecca Major (projects/global energy); and Dominic Roughton (dispute resolution). It will have 209 partners as a result of these promotions.

At national firm Beachcroft Wansbroughs, Paul Murray, head of the litigation division, will succeed Bob Heslett as managing partner when he stands down in April 2006.


Andrew Walsh joins the projects practice group at the London office of US firm Kilpatrick Stockton from national firm Pinsent Masons, where he was a partner.


Anna Cook joins Wedlake Bell’s media, intellectual property and commercial team in London from CMS Cameron McKenna.

Davies Arnold Cooper
hires two equity partners for its insurance department: Ross Risby from
Manches and Paul Howick from Stephenson Harwood.


Grundberg Mocatta Rakison promotes corporate and finance specialist Pawan Sharma.


To the south coast, where commercial property specialist Les Lawrenson joins Coles Miller in Poole as partner designate from Moore & Blatch in Southampton.


In the midlands, Roythornes promotes Fran Muldoon in the commercial property department at its Nottingham office.


Karon Flowerdew joins Nottingham firm Massers to head the family team; she moves from local firm Rosleys.


Two promotions at national criminal law firm Tuckers: Andrew Keogh and James Turner respectively at the Manchester and Birmingham offices.


At north-west firm Daniels, construction specialist Nigel Haddon takes over as managing partner from Mark Bestley, who remains on the partnership committee and a senior member of the employment team.




Associates/assistants

City firm Rosling King welcomes employment associate Aidan Loy from Uxbridge firm IBB.


Islamic finance specialist Mustafa Hussain moves to the London office of Taylor Wessing as an associate from Stephenson Harwood.


Nick Humphreys joins
Bircham Dyson Bell as an associate in the employment team from Richards Butler.


Nicola Mooney joins the clinical negligence team at Thomson Snell & Passmore in Tunbridge Wells as a senior associate from Hodge Jones & Allen in London.


Moving west, Katy Zikking joins Bristol firm Gregg Latchams Quinn as an assistant and head of the family department; she was previously at local firm TLT.


Birmingham firm Shakespeares promotes three to associate: Lisa Galloway (business litigation), Jayne Lynn (commercial litigation), and Michael Poulsom (commercial property).


The Manchester office of international firm DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary appoints three corporate finance associates: Paul Rimmer, Nick Roome and Peter Hindle, who all join from the Manchester office of Addleshaw Goddard.


Paul Horton joins Manchester firm George Davies as a wills and probate assistant from Cobbetts in Manchester, and Alison Glass becomes a litigation assistant upon qualification with the firm.


Three assistants join the clinical negligence team at Manchester firm Donns: Stephen Maguire from Cunningham Turner in Blackburn, Janet Johnson from Jack Thornley & Partners in Manchester, and Monia Sood from Nottingham firm FreethCartwright.




Clarification


In [2005] Gazette, 17 March, 40, we stated that David Rosen had been recruited to London firm Darlingtons from David Rosen & Co, which may have given the impression that David Rosen & Co continues to trade. For clarification, the firm David Rosen & Co, was incorporated into Darlingtons with effect from 1 March 2005.
