Kicking off in the City,
Berwin Leighton Paisner hires David Harrison from magic circle firm Allen & Overy to head its EU and competition practice.
Also leaving Allen & Overy is Julian Tucker, who joins US firm Shearman & Sterling as head of the structured finance practice in London.
US firm Dechert’s City office takes on partner Andrew Hougie in its financial services group, from Clifford Chance’s investment funds practice.
Charles Gothard moves across the City from Macfarlanes to Speechly Bircham. He specialises in international private client work.
City media boutique Marriott Harrison has hired Martin Boulton as a partner. He leaves an in-house role at Incite Holdings, where he was head of media rights.
Maria Guida joins Edwin Coe in London as a commercial property partner. She had previously run her own niche property practice, Guidance Legal.
At London firm Solomon Taylor & Shaw, Jeremy Harris is promoted to partner in the dispute resolution team.
In Guildford, commercial property partner Charles Hodder leaves Hammonds’ City office to join Laytons.
At Lamb Brooks in Basingstoke, Mark Izquierdo joins as head of the commercial property practice from Clarks in Reading, where he was an assistant solicitor.
In Bristol, Burges Salmon promotes six to the partnership, which is now 61-strong: Justin Briggs (commercial disputes), Georgie Messent (environmental), Beatrice Puoti-Ffiske (tax and trusts), Gary Soloman (planning), Richard Walford (corporate real estate) and Rupert Weston (corporate finance).
Three are promoted to partner at Birmingham and London firm Wragge & Co: Huw Evans (intellectual property), Trevor Gibson (employment) and Paula Laird (asset finance and leasing). It now has 105 partners.
Nottingham’s Browne Jacobson has 53 partners after promoting three: Peter Jones (employment), Susan Mabbott (personal injury) and Dominic Offord (contentious insolvency).
In Derbyshire, two solicitors leave their firms to launch a niche family practice called Prince McCulloch. David Prince was previously a partner at Irwin Mitchell in Sheffield, while Jane McCulloch was a partner at Raleys in Barnsley.

In the City, Bircham Dyson Bell promotes three to associate: Elizabeth Neale in the private client team, and Angus Walker and Nick Evans in the parliamentary, public law and planning team.
Uxbridge firm IBB takes on two senior solicitors: Tim Rutherford (commercial dispute resolution) from south-west firm Burges Salmon and Jon Mowbray (commercial property) from City firm Lovells.
Two new assistant solicitors for Rawlison Butler in Crawley, West Sussex: intellectual property specialist Steve Palmer moves from London firm Willoughby & Partners, while James Smallman joins the commercial property team from PDT in Reading.
Joanne Soccard joins Lamb Brooks in Basingstoke as a personal injury assistant solicitor from Shoosmiths in Basingstoke, while Lorraine Conn qualifies into the personal injury practice.
To the south coast, where Lester Aldridge in Bournemouth takes on John Randle, former head of the family team at Clarke Willmott in Bristol, as an associate.
Moore & Blatch in Southampton hires conveyancing solicitor Cameron Bishop from Knight & Co in Eastleigh.
Also in Southampton, Joanne Houston joins Blake Lapthorn Linnell as a senior family lawyer. She was previously with local firm Paris Smith & Randall.
Cheltenham firm Rickerbys hires Jonathan Morley from Linklaters in the City as an associate in the corporate and commercial team.
In Nottingham, five are promoted to associate at Browne Jacobson: Peter Downey (medical negligence), Stewart Gregory (commercial property), Mark Hughes (corporate), Richard Murphy (commercial litigation) and Susie Nicholson (social care).
Leeds firm Lupton Fawcett promotes five to associates: Andrew Francey and Christian Hunt (corporate), Jane Finn (commercial property), Andrew Johnson (commercial litigation) and Brett Dixon (personal injury).
David Brown qualifies into the employment department at Liverpool firm Lees Lloyd Whitley.
