Partners – promotions


SJ Berwin makes the most partner promotions this week with nine out of its 11 made in the London office: Sarah Bing (media and communications), William Boss (real estate), Nathan Briner and Simon Fraser (banking), Adrian Brown (financial services), Duncan Field (planning and environment), Michael Halford and Ylan Steiner (corporate) and Jason Juden (property litigation). The firm now has 141 partners.


Macfarlanes promotes six: Piers Barclay, Helen Darling and Sebastian Prichard Jones in the private client team, Rupert Casey in the commercial department, Garrett Hayes in corporate and Paul Davies in the environmental team. This increases the total number of partners to 65.


Field Fisher Waterhouse has also promoted six: employment specialist Greg Cain, Judith Chrystie and Sarah Ellson in the regulatory team, pensions lawyer David Gallagher, Andrew Lucas in the technology department, and personal injury specialist Andrew Morgan. The firm now has 86 partners.


Holman Fenwick & Willan promotes five in its London office: Jim Cashman, Julian Clark and Craig Neame (shipping and transport), Samantha Roberts (trade and energy) and Nigel Wick (insurance and reinsurance). It has a total of 91 partners worldwide.


National firm Beachcroft Wansbroughs promotes five: Campbell Dye (commercial litigation) and Chris Doran (construction) in the London office, and Giles Hindle (insolvency), Corinne Slingo (clinical risk) and Helen Faulkner (professional and financial risk) in Bristol. The firm has a total of 141 partners.


Stephenson Harwood promotes three: Tony Edwards (corporate), Lucy French (banking and asset finance) and Philip Goodchild (pensions). The appointments bring the firm’s partnership to 66.


Niche commercial firm McFaddens promotes Lucy Becker in the corporate and commercial department and litigation specialist Jonathan Ray-Smith. It has four partners.


Olswang promotes Iain Stansfield and Stephen Hignett in the IP and tax departments respectively. The firm has 75 partners.


Berwin Leighton Paisner promotes Meriel Bennett in the project finance team and Paul Sartori in the corporate finance team, bringing the total number of partners to 143.


Home counties firm Iliffes Booth Bennett promotes commercial dispute resolution specialist Simon Hobbs, taking the partnership to 24.


Guildford-based housebuilding law firm GCL promotes residential development specialist Simon Wilson to associate partner.


Thames Valley firm Ratcliffe Duce & Gammer promotes employment specialist Christopher Flood. The firm now has seven partners.


Hampshire firm White & Bowker promotes its head of planning Oliver Sowton to its 15th partner.


In the south-west, Devon firm Foot Anstey promotes employment specialist Patrick Howarth and family specialist Yvette Rooke. It is now a 33-partner firm.


In the midlands, Gateley Wareing promotes employment specialist Victoria Garrad and property specialist Rebecca Foulkes to make 29 partners.


Wolverhampton firm FBC has promoted Fay Rothery in the family department and Paul Horton in the commercial litigation department. It now has 19 partners.


Moving north, Sheffield firm Wake Smith promotes Emilda Eaton (tax and trusts), Jane Wheatley (family) and Damien Donnelly (commercial property) and has 18 partners as a result.


Newcastle firm David Gray has 14 partners after promoting Elspeth Thomson (family), Cliff Veitch (property) and Brian Hegarty (crime).

Anne Cruickshank joins the corporate team at Field Fisher Waterhouse from Linklaters.


Insurance restructuring specialist Miriam Bartlett moves to Reynolds Porter Chamberlain from Pinsent Masons.


Guy Liddle joins the aircraft finance and aviation practice at Stephenson Harwood from Lovells.


Clare Calnan joins shipping firm Curtis Davis Garrard; she was previously in-house counsel at Ronley Holdings in north London.


Moving out of London, Jonathan Howe joins the probate department at Kingsfords in Ashford, from Suffolk firm Gross & Co.


Corporate specialist Trevor Carney joins Kent firm Vertex Law from Cripps Harries Hall in Tunbridge Wells.


Chris Holme joins the commerce and technology team at the Gatwick office of Rawlison Butler from Kent firm Brachers.


Michael Gay joins the commercial property team at the Taunton office of Foot Anstey from Clarke Willmott in Taunton.


Melanie Print moves to the health team at the Birmingham office of Bevan Brittan from the Leeds office of Beachcroft Wansbroughs.

Tina Williams succeeds Ronnie Fox as senior partner at City firm Fox Williams. Mr Fox will continue as a partner specialising in employment and partnership law.

In the midlands, Michael Wall joins Wolverhampton firm FBC as an assistant in the private client department after qualifying at Clarke Willmott in Birmingham.


Moving north, three assistants join Sheffield firm HLW: Karyn Coburn in the insolvency department from the Insolvency Service, Hayley Parkin-Coates in the commercial property department from Richmonds in Doncaster, and Rachel Williams in the property department from Child & Child in London.


Employment associate Sara Barrett joins Bolton firm KBL from Hammonds in Manchester.


Two join the private client team at the Ilkley office of Last Cawthra Feather: Amanda Lee moves from Hartley & Worstenholme in Castleford and Nicola Troyna from Gordons in Leeds.
