Baker & McKenzie promotes four: Bill Batchelor and Keith Jones (both competition), Richard Blunt (corporate) and Jenni Rutter (intellectual property). It now has 76 partners in the City.
Energy specialist Matthew Williams and corporate finance lawyer Paul Tetlow join the London office of Hunton & Williams from US rival Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft and City firm Clyde & Co respectively.
Peter Stevens moves to the corporate and commercial team in Browne Jacobson’s London office from Manches, where he was a partner.
Speechly Bircham promotes Dee Sian in private equity, while Andrew Clarke joins the same team from the London office of US firm Jones Day.
Howard Kennedy promotes company and commercial specialist Stephen Heinemann and property lawyer Matthew Morgan. It now has 64 partners.
Bristows promotes Maria Manley in its healthcare regulatory practice, the firm’s 27th partner.
Hodge Jones & Allen promotes Susie Labinjoh in personal injury and Glen Henry in criminal law. The north London practice now has 17 partners.
Maria Bairstow joins the commercial property group at Uxbridge firm Iliffes Booth Bennett from Stuchbery Stone in Maidenhead.
South-east firm Penningtons promotes three in its Basingstoke office: Philip Stephenson (corporate and commercial), Alison Appelboam-Meadows (clinical negligence and personal injury) and Linda Storey (property). It now has 67 partners, 14 of whom are based in Basingstoke.
On the south coast, retail and leisure property specialist Joanne McGuinness joins the Solent office of Shoosmiths from Lester Aldridge in Southampton.
Social housing partner Philip Heath joins Cobbetts’ Birmingham office from Wright Hassall in Coventry.
North-west firm DWF promotes four: Ian Gillis, Richard Mathias and Paula Smith in corporate and Alan Cunningham in structured finance. This brings the total number of partners to 67.
Harrogate firm Raworths promotes Simon Morris in the commercial client team, its tenth partner.
The Hawkswell Kilvington Partnership in Wakefield promotes construction and engineering specialist Barry Goodall. It has now three partners.
Andrew Scott joins Newcastle firm Dickinson Dees as head of IT from the London office of Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw, where he was a partner.
Management
National firm Pinsent Masons has elected pensions specialist Chris Mullen, joint head of its financial services and insurance team, as its new senior partner until December 2007. He replaces Julian Tonks, who is standing down for health reasons.
London firm Bindman & Partners appoints non-lawyer Nick Martin as chief executive from Matrix Chambers, where he held the same post since its start-up in 2000.

In the capital, Mark Hessel, previously at Adams, joins Reid Minty’s commercial litigation team as an associate.
Tom Frederikse joins Clintons’ commercial and entertainment department as an assistant from The Simkins Partnership.
Hodge Jones & Allen promotes four to associate: Alison Parker and Simon O’Loughlin (personal injury), Jocelyn Cockburn (police misconduct) and Khurram Arif (criminal law).
To the midlands, where Needham & James promotes eight to associate in its offices in Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Shipston-on-Stour and Moreton-in-Marsh: Geoff Evans and Natalie Gist (commercial property), Alan Dark and Caroline Lee (employment), Julie Peel (dispute resolution), Shirley Rabbetts (private client), Kate Ollis (company and commercial) and Susan Archer (social housing).
Paul Magee, formerly at Simon Bergin in Stockport, joins Chester firm Drummonds as senior assistant and head of its new litigation and matrimonial department.
In Manchester, Steven Ross joins Linder Myers as a commercial litigation assistant from local firm Cooper Kenyon Burrows.
Licensing specialist Sarah Smith joins Newcastle firm Sintons as associate from local firm Mincoffs.
Clarification
Trenham Weatherhead handles company and commercial and media contracts work at London entertainment firm Jayes & Page, and not just conveyancing as stated in [2005] Gazette, 16 June, 44.
