Two personal injury specialists are promoted to partner at Berrymans Lace Mawer: Val Hughes in Birmingham and Henry Kirkup in Leeds.


Tony Machowski is promoted into the equity in the personal injury team at Oldham firm Gruber Garratt.

Richard Baxter, head of corporate at Stevens & Bolton in Guildford, has been appointed managing partner of the Surrey firm. He replaces Michael Laver, who stays on as head of commercial property.


Bristol-based insolvency specialist Victor Tettmar has been appointed managing partner of Bond Pearce following the decision of Simon Richardson to step down. Mr Richardson will take over as head of employment.


Bolton-based Keoghs has chosen John Whittle, the head of its Coventry office, as chief executive. He replaces accountant Paul Smith.

Two assistant solicitors for the residential team at Kent firm Warners: Jane Bohill from London firm Russell-Cooke and Claire Manning, who has previously worked at Leigh Williams in Bromley. Fiona Higgott and Karl Howsam join the tax and commercial property departments respectively on qualification.


Rachael House joins the family law team at Herrington & Carmichael in Camberley after qualifying at the Surrey firm.


David Shaw moves to Sherrards in St Albans as an assistant in the property litigation team. He was previously a lecturer at the College of Law.


Pitmans in Reading has recruited Jacqueline McDermott as a director in its employment team. She moves from Penningtons, where she was an associate.
