Partners – promotions


National practice Pinsent Masons has 11 new partners. They are: Robert Moir (corporate); Lisa Patmore and Sara Sawicki (employment); Julian Cohen (international construction and energy); Deborah Bould and Simon Colvin (outsourcing, technology and commercial); Matthew Baker, Anne Bowden and Jonathan Riley (property); Simon Plunkett and John Salway (construction and engineering). This brings the firm up to more than 260 partners.


City firm Berwin Leighton Paisner has promoted a record 13 to partner, increasing the total to 167. They are: Damian Fleming, David Johnston and Vicky Stokes (real estate); Nazir Dewji (construction); Richard Chapman (business and technology); Kate Gater (employment, pensions and incentives); Rob Salter and Victoria Sawyer (corporate finance); Charles Goddard (corporate tax); Mark Richards (projects); Laurence Rogers (property finance); Joanne Lampert (real estate litigation); and Tamara Quinn (intellectual property).


National firm Beachcroft has promoted three, bringing its total to 149. They are Paula Jefferson (injury risk) and Jane Staveley (projects) in London, and Suzanne Wharton (professional risk) in Leeds.


City firm Ince & Co has promoted four of its lawyers, boosting its total to 74 worldwide. They are: Mathieu Croix (shipping, marine insurance, and commercial litigation); Chris Grieveson (shipping); Harry Hirst (shipping); and Paul Ho (shipping, international trade, banking and finance).


City firm Watson Farley & Williams has promoted David Foster and Christina Howard in the firm’s international litigation and international corporate groups respectively. Finance specialist Madeline Leong is promoted in Singapore. The firm now has 67 partners.


City firm Fox Williams has promoted employment solicitor Joanna Chatterton, bringing the total to 14.


Sally Hudson has been promoted in Colchester firm Ellisons’ commercial department. She is the firm’s 16th partner.


James Leo has been promoted at Birmingham firm Coley & Tilley; he specialises in litigation and employment law. The firm now has nine partners.




Partners – hires


Finance partner Stephen Gillespie moves from City firm Allen & Overy to join the London office of US firm Kirkland & Ellis.


Richards Butler has recruited shipping litigation and ship finance restructuring partner Mark O’Neil, together with marine manager Ron Clark and assistants Rebecca Walter-Jones, Helle Kjaerstad and Vaughan Williams, from Stephenson Harwood.


Robert Guest moves to Beachcroft’s London office as a partner in the financial services division from Field Fisher Waterhouse.


The regulations and investigations group of national firm Irwin Mitchell has been boosted by the recruitment of two partners. Maurice Martin, former senior partner of Tarlo Lyons, moves to the London branch while David Egan, previously a partner at Shoosmiths, joins the Birmingham office.


Exeter firm Michelmores has recruited former Foot Anstey senior partner Adrian Miller.


The Birmingham office of BPE has two new partners following the recruitment of Adele McDermott from The Wilkes Partnership, where she headed the property section, and Jeanette Darby from Bevan Brittan, who also specialises in property law.


Company and commercial specialist Jason Hathaway joins Leicester-based Douglas Wemyss as managing partner; he moves from Bridle Hathaway White, where he was a founding partner.


In Yorkshire, Chris Hindle has boosted Bradford-based Read Dunn Connell’s property department; he was previously at Grahame Stowe Bateson.




Management


Litigator Patrick Russell takes over the role of senior partner at London firm Charles Russell; he has been with the firm since 1976. His predecessor, Laurie Watt, becomes a consultant.


Hertfordshire firm Pickworths has a new senior partner in employment lawyer Ian Tottman, following the retirement of David Forbes.




Associates/Assistants


Beachcroft has 19 new associates, all promotions. They are: Ben Nicholson, Anne Holden, Alison Moore, Julitta Yates and Claire Kemp (all commercial property); Nick Basi (construction); John Dunlop (corporate finance); Rowena Summers, Donna Sharp, Karen Bexley and Joanne Tindall (employment); Chris Baranowski, Owen Rees, Alison Parker, Barrie Hall and Catherine Webb (injury risk); Sara Robertson (professional risk) and Emma Bate and Nathalie Moreno (technology and commerce).


Pickworths in Hertfordshire has promoted three to associate. They are Karen White (property), Kathy James (wills, probate and trusts) and Michael Powell (employment).


Shaun Lowry joins Leeds firm Shulmans as a solicitor specialising in construction law. He was previously a senior lecturer in the subject at Leeds Metropolitan University.


Emma Brocklebank moves to Read Dunn Connell in Bradford as an associate from Ashton Bell. She joins the family, civil litigation and personal injury team.
