Partners


Kicking off in the City, Antoine-Audoin Maggiar, a former partner in Slaughter and May’s Paris office, has moved to Berwin Leighton Paisner as a senior corporate finance partner.


Barlow Robbins in Surrey promotes two new partners: Sarah Ambrose (property) and Guy Crowther (private client). It now has 22 partners.


In East Anglia, Ipswich firm Prettys promotes Matthew Cameron, head of the French law department, and Jonathan Greenhalgh, a property specialist, to the partnership. It now has 17 partners.


The Norwich office of Howes Percival takes on Stephanie Liston as a corporate and commercial partner. She was previously a partner at US firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr in the City.


Moving to the south-west, Foot Anstey brings its partnership to 30 with the promotion of Richard Bagwell (property litigation) and James Evans (charities).


At Clarke Willmott in Bristol, Elizabeth Sturgess joins the property team from Westbury Homes, where she was legal director.


Moving north, Aaron & Partners in Chester has promoted three to partner, bringing its total to 16: Clare Gray (company and commercial), Nick Clarke (litigation) and Lorraine Saunders (matrimonial).


Laytons’ Manchester office takes on two new partners: Stuart Farr from Martineau Johnson in Birmingham (dispute resolution) and Barney Leaf from regional firm Cobbetts (corporate finance).


Tahir Ahmed has joined City firm Norton Rose’s Dubai office as a corporate partner from Clifford Chance.





Management


In the south-east, commercial litigator Andrew Clinton has been appointed to the new position of managing partner at ASB Law. Russell Bell has been re-elected senior partner.


Liz Jenkins, head of Shadbolt & Co’s London office, has taken over as chairwoman of the firm. She replaces former chairman Dick Shadbolt who has returned to fee-earning.


Bristol firm Veale Wasbrough has appointed Simon Pizzey as its managing partner for a third successive term.




Associates/Assistants


In London, Victoria Holland leaves Macfarlanes to join the property finance practice at Forsters as an assistant solicitor. Commercial property specialist Chris Ogle also joins the firm as a senior lawyer from DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Carey.


Richard McBride joins TLT’s London office as a banking associate from Barclays Bank where he was an in-house lawyer.


In Kent, Simrit Kaur Sandhu moves to Gravesend firm Hatten Wyatt as an assistant solicitor in the property team from Soods in Goodmayes, Essex.


South-west firm Foot Anstey promotes three to associate: Philip Wolfgang and James Heath (commercial property) and Philippa Bruce-Kerr (private client).


Bristol firm Bevans has promoted employment specialist Sarah Smith to associate.


Two new assistant solicitors for Greene & Greene in Bury St Edmunds: Hannu Mikkola from Mills & Reeve in Norwich (commercial) and Helen Wingfield from Kester Cunningham John (probate, tax and trusts).


In Manchester, Marc King moves to niche private client practice Lane-Smith & Shindler as an associate from Gorvins in Stockport.


In Yorkshire, two senior solicitors for Bradford firm Read Dunn Connell: Chris Hindle, who was previously a partner with Leeds and Harrogate firm Graham Stowe Bateson, joins as head of property, while Emma Brocklebank becomes an associate in the family, civil litigation and personal injury teams, moving from Ashton Bell in Leeds.



BAR AND BENCH


Solicitor Anthony Cleary has been appointed circuit judge, to be assigned primarily to the Worcester Combined Court Centre.


Solicitor Peter Devlin has been appointed district judge at Slough County Court.


Barrister Bernard Wallwork has been appointed circuit judge, assigned to the Liverpool Combined Court Centre.


Professor Alan Boyle has become a door tenant at Essex Court Chambers, practising in public international law.
