Partners – promotions


Russell-Cooke
promotes two in its commercial property group: Ian Goldsmith in the central London office and Angela Dennis in south London, taking its total number of partners to 42.

Hertfordshire firm Breeze & Wyles promotes conveyancing and property specialist Malina Gupta in its Bishop’s Stortford office. It now has 11 partners.


Birmingham firm Buller Jeffries promotes the head of its commercial property and private client team, Clive Vernon, taking its partner total to 11.


Also in Birmingham, Bevan Brittan promotes Colette McCormack in its planning and regeneration practice. She becomes the firm’s 70th partner.


Anglo-Scottish firm HBJ Gateley Wareing promotes three to partner: James Gopsill in tax, Michael Cummins in employment, and Mukesh Patel in the dispute resolution team. The firm now has 61 partners.


DWF promotes seven in its Manchester and Liverpool offices, bringing its total to 69. The two new partners in Manchester are insurance litigation specialist Robert Gray and Daren Charlton in the industrial diseases team. The five promoted in Liverpool are: insurance specialists Tim Hoy and Juliet Herzog, property specialist Andrew Nichol, Philip Whitehurst in corporate, and Emma Harvey, who heads the resourcing sector group.

Frances Alderson joins the construction practice at London firm Fladgate Fielder from City firm Sprecher Grier Halberstam, where she was a partner.


Finbar Cahill joins the personal injury team at Keoghs’ Bolton office. He was previously at Hill Dickinson before taking time out to travel.



Management


City firm Hextalls appoints head of employment Jane Liddington to the new position of non-executive chairwoman.

Jeanette Miller takes over as senior and managing partner of Manchester firm Geoffrey Miller Solicitors from her father Geoffrey Miller, who has taken semi-retirement.



Associates/assistants


The London office of US firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman expands its global sourcing team by hiring Alessandro Liotta from British Telecom and Lidia Poczok from City firm Denton Wilde Sapte.


Tim Taylor joins central London firm Forsters as a senior solicitor from national firm Eversheds to boost its planning team.


Oil and gas specialist Robin Storey joins niche London firm Curtis Davis Garrard as a senior associate after working in-house for PetroKazakhstan in Kazakhstan.


Patrick Lees moves from London firm Howard Kennedy to join Uxbridge practice IBB as a senior solicitor in the commercial development team. Anil Shah joins IBB as an assistant in the corporate and commercial team; he previously worked in-house for Allied Irish Bank.


Bristol firm Burroughs Day appoints associate Anne Minihane to head its wills and tax planning team; she moves from local firm TLT.


In Birmingham, Bevan Brittan promotes Tracey Lucas to associate in its health division. Four assistants join after completing their training with the firm: Chloe Edwards (employment), Nassrin Afnan (tax), and Sarah Berry and James Cassidy (health).


HBJ Gateley Wareing promotes eight to senior associate: Barry Jervis (dispute resolution), Chris Reed and Gavin White (corporate), Iain Johnston (property), Ishaq Kayani and Neil Price (construction), James Keates (corporate recovery), and Kirstin Roberts (commercial). The firm also promotes eight to associate: Anna Mayfield, David Doogan and Janet Freeman (corporate), Kevin Joynes (residential development), Martin Jahreiss (corporate and property tax), Sam Pancholi and Sandy Munroe (property), and Sue Lowry (corporate recovery).


Employment assistant Rachel Eccles joins Ricksons’ Preston office from Manchester firm Martin & Co.

Solicitor Peter Haworth is appointed taxing master of the Supreme Court.


Solicitor Khalid Qureshi is appointed district judge in the magistrates’ court in the Birmingham commission area.
