Partners – promotions



In the capital, Cumberland Ellis promotes James Lamont in the company commercial team, and family specialist Emma Ries.



Anthony Gold also promotes two: Ali Malsher in clinical negligence and personal injury and Nicola Gunn in family.



Family specialist Sheila Gooderham is promoted at the Petersfield offices of Hampshire and Sussex firm MacDonald Oates.



Newcastle firm Dickinson Dees promotes five: Deborah Jude (private client), Kevin Robertson (projects), Paul Stewart (litigation), Frank Orr (planning), and Alex Rodger (pensions). It now has 68 partners.





Partners – hires



The London office of Pinsent Masons recruits asset finance specialist Graeme McLellan from City firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.



Corporate specialist Mark Taylor joins the London office of US firm Dorsey & Whitney from DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary.



Dual qualified UK/US lawyer Brian Chadwick joins the London office of Michelmores as a company/commercial partner.



Bath firm Mogers recruits private client and charity specialist Samantha O’Sullivan; she was previously at Thring Townsend.



Jeremy Orrell (corporate) and Peter Townsend (tax) leave Cobbetts to rejoin Manchester-based Slater Heelis Collier Littler, the firm they left in 1998.



Corporate specialist John Barker and David Coates in commercial property join Fox Hayes in Leeds from Brooke North.





New firm



Rizwan Ahmad leaves Howe & Co in London to become sole partner in his own High Wycombe firm, Herald Solicitors. The practice will handle commercial debt recovery and personal injury.





Management



York-based Denison Till has appointed corporate partner Alistair Duncan as managing partner. He replaces Chris Barton, who is leaving to pursue other interests.





Associates/assistants



City firm Denton Wilde Sapte (DWS) promotes nine to senior solicitor in the London office: Robin Spender, Rob Spedding and Bruce Gavin (banking and finance); Neil Nicholson and Matthew Tinger (corporate); Paul Stothard (dispute resolution); and Heike Trischmann, Sam Boileau and Michael Rudd (energy and infrastructure). Six are also promoted in DWS’ international offices: Moyn Uddin and Stephen Tee in Abu Dhabi; Michael Rodrigues, Marc Oufi and Imran Mufti in Dubai; and Nihan Kaya in Istanbul.



Cumberland Ellis in London promotes Eleri Jones in commercial property and Susan Fritsche in property litigation to associate. The firm also hires Charlotte Eno, formerly of Levenes, as an assistant solicitor in the employment team.



Three assistant solicitors join Leigh Day & Co: Clare Mitson (personal injury) from Thompsons, Caroline Cryer (complex claims) from Clifford Chance, and James Gay (international travel claims) from Colemans-ctts.



Howard Kennedy also welcomes three new solicitors: Simon Brook from CH Hausmann and Sarah Hargeaves from Ross & Craig both join the property department, while Naoko Yasutake moves to the tax team from Goodys in Colchester.



Assistant solicitor Claire Gibson joins the banking and asset finance team in TLT’s London office from Mark Gilbert Morse.



Tim Gofton, who was previously at Wragge & Co, moves to Bath firm Mogers as a senior employment solicitor.



Regional firm Bond Pearce has appointed six of its solicitors to associate in its offices in London and the south-west: Jonathan Bower and Graham Wrigglesworth (planning and regeneration), Neil Franklin and Claire Cornish (professional indemnity), Nicholas Seymour (personal injury), and Charissa Shears (construction).



Richard Nicholas joins the Birmingham office of Browne Jacobson as an associate in commercial, moving from Wragge & Co.



Lincoln firm Langleys appoints Andrew Cragg as an assistant solicitor in the medical law team; he moves from local firm Burton & Co.



To the north-west, where Chester-based Aaron & Partners promotes three to associate: Jan Chillery (litigation), Peter Marsden (property) and David Cooney (wills, trusts and taxes).



Michael Chambers joins the litigation team at Stockport-based Gorvins after qualifying at the firm.



Shireen Nakuda moves to the corporate department at Lancashire firm Napthens as an assistant solicitor from Kuit Steinart Levy in Manchester.



Alison Fernandes re-joins, after five years’ absence, Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office as an associate in the family team. She moves from the Nottingham office of Rothera Dowson.





Consultants



Colina Greenway joins the London and Cambridge offices of US firm Dorsey & Whitney as a consultant; she is a former director of McGrigors.



Family specialist Valerie West joins Mogers in Bath as a consultant; she is a former partner of national firm Beachcroft.



Veronica Dean, previously a partner at national firm Hammonds, and Andrew Spooner, former head of litigation at Martineau Johnson, join midlands-based Averta Employment Lawyers as consultants.
