Partners



Four are promoted to partner at the London office of US firm Jones Day, bringing the total based in the City to 45. They are: Lisa Anderson (tax), Jarleth Burke (competition), Leon Ferera (mergers and acquisitions) and Neil Ferguson (private equity).



The London office of White & Case boosts its financial restructuring and insolvency practice by hiring Stephen Phillips, who was previously at US rival Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft.



US firm Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker hires Jonathan Simpson, previously head of international projects at Berwin Leighton Paisner.



Dawsons promotes two: Harender Dahia in corporate and Amanda Nelson in private client.



UK firm Dundas & Wilson hires barrister Patrick Brandt to head up its financial services practice in London. Joining from Baker & McKenzie, he will become a partner on gaining his practising certificate as a solicitor.



Construction specialist Louise Garcia joins Withy King in Bath from national firm Beachcroft.



Emma Honey is promoted in the commercial property team at Exeter and London firm Michelmores.



Probate and wills specialist Helen Wingfield is promoted in the private client team at Greene & Greene in Bury St Edmunds.



Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes firm Tollers has promoted eight to partner, bringing its total to 21. They are: John Punni, Lucy Higgins and Duncan Bisatt in business property; Chris Houghton and Andrew Niblock in corporate; John Gibney and Colin Brooks in personal injury; and Katie Herrod in family law.



Manchester firm Chafes recruits Tony Morris from Cobbetts as head of

business services.





Associates/Assistants



Hempsons hires dental law specialist Richard Creamer as a solicitor in its London office from RadcliffesLeBrasseur.



Sebastien Oddos joins the commercial team and French desk at Miller Rosenfalck in the City as an associate, moving from the International Law Partnership.



Clare Pearce becomes an assistant in the health team at the London office of Kennedys, moving from Bevan Brittan.



Emma Brunning joins Birkett Long as head of family law in the Chelmsford office. She was previously a partner at local firm Leonard Gray.



Family law solicitor Mari Magnussen joins the Guildford office of Barlow Robbins from Crellins in Weybridge.



Three join Havant-based Dyer Burdett & Co on qualification: Lisa Ellis (family law), Ben Holden (probate) and Nick

Southwell (civil litigation and commercial law).



To the west, where Wards promotes litigator Ian Williamson in its Bristol office and property

specialist Heather Jones in its Weston-super-Mare office to associate.



Paul Calladine joins the minerals and environmental law team at Bowcock Cuerden in Chester as an associate, moving from Freeth Cartwright in Derby.



Chris King leaves Bowcock Cuerden to join Heatons in Manchester as an associate in the corporate team.



Intellectual property specialist Kavita Roy joins Schofield Sweeney’s Bradford office as an assistant from Fox Mandal Little in New Delhi.



Richard Hugill and Rebecca Walker join the litigation and company and commercial law teams respectively at Harrowell Shaftoe in York. Both move from Walker Morris in Leeds.



Hull firm Andrew M Jackson hires intellectual property specialist Julia Hobbs as a senior solicitor from the Leeds office of DLA Piper.

Michael Lester, former group legal director at BAE Systems, joins the London office of DLA Piper as senior counsel.

Dominic Kay is promoted from company secretary to commercial director at Four Seasons Health Care.

Barristers John Saunders QC, Timothy King QC, Wyn Williams QC and John Griffith Williams QC are appointed High Court judges, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division. Launcelot Henderson QC is also appointed a High Court judge, assigned to the Chancery Division.
