Partners



The 2007 promotion round in the top commercial firms has taken off this week.



Linklaters promotes 38 worldwide, bringing its total to 540. In London, the new partners are Stephen Griffin, Nicola Mayo, Nicola Hopkins, Edward Smith and Rosalind Knowles in the corporate team; Robert Burt, Mirthe van Kesteren, Mark Middleton, Deepak Sitlani and Richard Ginks in the finance and projects teams; and Nick Porter, Liz Conway and Richard Cumbley in the commercial team.



Eversheds promotes 30 across the firm, with 21 in its UK offices. They are: Nick Emmerson, Kuljit Ghata-Aura, Catherine Eley, Byron Nurse, Andrew Quayle and Janet Jones in its corporate department; Kuljeet Hothi and Andrew Chandler in its commercial team; Ele Lovering in the human resources group; Nicola Williams, Paul Castellani, Jo Hatton Jones, Donald Warnock, Lisa Barge, Richard Hanson and Jonathan Armstrong in litigation; and David Emberson, David Jones, Chris O’Donoghue, Helen Annable and Judith Damerell in the real estate department.



Slaughter and May promotes five: Robert Byk and Guy O’Keefe in the financing team, Tim Pharoah and Mark Zerdin in corporate, and Gareth Miles in tax. It now has 128 partners.



Nabarro promotes seven, taking its partner total to 127. The six promoted in London are: Richard Beavan and Russell Holden in the corporate department, Jonathan Cantor in corporate real estate, Glen Flannery in restructuring and insolvency, Louise Gellman in intellectual property, Joshua Risso-Gill in planning and Jeremy Shields in real estate.



Ince & Co promotes seven, bringing its total number of partners to 78. The new partners are Iain Anderson, Johanna Ewen and Michelle Linderman (insurance), Charles Lockwood and Will Marshall (energy), and Christian Dwyer (shipping).



Mishcon de Reya promotes five, taking its partner total to 52. They are: Deirdre Hennessy in the real estate department, Christopher Jones and Stuart McMaster in corporate and commercial, Mark Keenan in litigation, and Barbara Reeves in the family team.



In Manchester, Gorvins appoints Andrew Curwen to its commercial team; he was formerly a partner at Rowe Cohen.





Associates/Assistants


In London, Bindman & Partners promotes three to associate: Liz Dronfield in the family department, Kate Goold in the criminal team and Siobhan Kelly in the clinical negligence and personal injury team.


Assistant Simon Winter joins the commercial litigation department at City firm Pritchard Englefield from ASB Law in Crawley.

Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield firm BP Collins appoints David Smellie as a senior associate in its corporate and commercial team; he moves from Davies Arnold Cooper.



Three assistants join Boyes Turner in Reading: Peter Lumley-Savile moves to the commercial and technology group from Shoosmiths in Nottingham, and Nick Snowden and Claire Taylor boost the employment group from Speechly Bircham in the City and Guildford firm Hart Brown respectively.



Sussex firm Rawlison Butler welcomes two senior associates: Andrew Hoad joins the corporate team in Gatwick from Kent firm Vertex Law and Martin Beames joins the tax, trusts and probate department in Horsham from Lloyds TSB Bank.



Philip Hall joins Dorchester firm BPL as an associate in the commercial property division from Clarke Willmott in Taunton.

Senior personal injury solicitor Mark Flack moves to Comercrawley in Diss from Kester Cunningham John in Bury St Edmunds.



Licensing specialist David Crank joins the commercial litigation team at Liverpool firm DWF from Halliwells.



Also in Liverpool, litigation assistant Daniel Sanchez-Lopez moves to Hill Dickinson from Berrymans Lace Mawer.



Preston firm Napthens hires Roger Spence to its employment team from Lees Lloyd Whitley in Liverpool.

Stephen Avila from Essex firm Birkett Long has been elected president of Mid Essex Law Society.
