In the City, Denton Wilde Sapte promotes 12, bringing its total number of partners to 173. Brett Hillis (banking), Iain Black, Candice Chapman, Neil Nicholson (corporate), Libby Elliot, Felicity Howat (dispute resolution), Julian Cridge, Robert Wyatt (real estate), Stephen Shergold (energy and infrastructure) and Anthony Trenton (technology, media and telecoms) are UK-based, while Vince Mulvey (energy) is based in Dubai and Michael Lacey (construction) in Cairo.



The banking practice at Lovells recruits Shelley Mottershead. She was a senior managing associate with Linklaters.



Commercial litigator Amina Somers joins specialist technology firm iLaw as partner from Irwin Mitchell.



Peters & Peters promotes David McCluskey in the fraud and regulatory department, taking its partner total to 13.



Dean Norton joins Ince & Co’s ship finance practice from Clifford Chance.



Intellectual property and technology law specialist Joanne Vengadesan is promoted at Penningtons’ Basingstoke office. The firm now has 66 partners.



Salisbury-based private client and charity law firm Wilsons promotes Michael Parker (head of litigation), Alison McKenna (head of charities), Adam Herbert (private client) and Tim Clayden (head of residential conveyancing) to equity partners, taking its total to 30. In addition, Peter Bourke and Andrew O’Keeffe in the litigation team are promoted to salaried partners.



Midlands law firm Nelsons promotes Adam Youatt (property development), Scott Farnsworth (intellectual property) and Ed Wright (commercial contract). This brings its partner total to 18.



Probate specialist Justine Hardy and commercial litigator Robert Minors are promoted at Harrogate firm Raworths. It now has 12 partners.



Nigel Wilson joins Ware & Kay as head of the family law department at its Wetherby office. He moves from national firm Irwin Mitchell, where he was an associate.

The energy group at US firm Shearman and Sterling’s London office recruits two senior associates: Robin Bayley joins from City firm Allen & Overy and Lorenzo Pacitti moves from a firm in Perth, Australia.



Rooks Rider promotes Lucy Riley to associate in its property department.



Andrew Lloyd joins Waring & Co as assistant solicitor in the employment team. He moves from City firm ProLegal.



Adrian Toutoungi joins the commercial and technology group at Reading firm Boyes Turner as an associate. He moves from City firm Linklaters.



Salisbury firm Wilsons promotes Claire Ainley (charities) and Jane Lonergan (commercial property) to associate.



Geoffrey Leaver in Milton Keynes promotes Mairead McErlean to associate in the commercial litigation department.



Rachel Turner joins Midlands firm Cartwright King from Archers to help develop its mental health department.



Geraldine Kerrison leaves JSP Solicitors in Lincoln to join Metcalfe Copeman & Pettefar’s King’s Lynn office as a solicitor and head of its industrial disease department.

The London office of US firm Bryan Cave recruits Ed Marlow as counsel in its banking and finance practice. He was previously a partner at Denton Wilde Sapte.



Finance specialist Iain Elder joins the London energy group at Shearman & Sterling as counsel from Clifford Chance.



Janet Turner QC joins Taylor Vinters as a consultant and will head up the Cambridge-based firm’s charities team. She previously headed the legal team at charity WRVS.



Milo Turner and Peter Jordan join Challinors’ West Bromwich office as consultants to the firm’s criminal team, after 20 years running their own practice, Jordan Turner.



Philip Lloyd-Williams is to leave Tamworth Borough Council in July to become director of corporate governance and monitoring with Cannock Chase District Council.
