Partners



The US firms have been busy in the City this week. Energy partner Susan Farmer joins the London office of US firm Fulbright & Jaworski from Watson Farley & Williams.



Fellow US firm Squire Sanders & Dempsey hires Andrew Knight as a partner; he was previously head of asset-based finance at Speechly Bircham.



US firm Sullivan & Cromwell makes up six worldwide, including corporate specialist Benjamin Perry in its London office.



The capital markets practice of US/UK firm Jones Day is boosted by the arrival of Andrew Chen from Nomura International plc, where he was a director and head of the debt capital markets legal team.



Competition specialist James Dilley joins the London office of Birmingham firm Martineau Johnson from SJ Berwin.



In the Thames Valley, Pitmans hires two new partners: employment lawyer Richard Devall arrives from H2O Law in London, while Laurence Sheppard joins to start up the firm’s new construction team. He formerly held the same post in the London office of Weightmans.



Darryl Cooke joins Hill Dickinson as partner to head the Manchester corporate team; he was previously head of

private equity in EMEA at DLA Piper.



Leaving Hill Dickinson are partner Andrew Tongue, the former head of insolvency, and associate Paul Warburton, who move to Nexus to set up a corporate and insolvency restructuring department.



David Higgins joins the insolvency team at Manchester firm Turner Parkinson; he was previously at Cobbetts in Leeds, where he set up the bankruptcy practice.



The Liverpool office of Weightmans is boosted by the arrival of Ian Vicary as head of corporate; he also joins from Hill Dickinson, where he was head of corporate finance.



Stuart Scott-Goldstone joins Chester firm Aaron & Partners as head of corporate/commercial, from Laytons in Manchester.



In Leeds, DWF bolsters its real estate team by hiring a seven-strong team from Hammonds, led by partners Nic Crocker and Simon Meek. Associate Dean Jowett is part of the team. Meanwhile, Edell Quinn (property development and finance) is promoted from associate.



In Hull, Rollits boosts its property team with the arrival of partner David Hextal from Sandersons.





Associates/Assistants



Insurance regulations specialist Guy Dunlop rejoins Clifford Chance as a senior associate; he was previously company secretary and general counsel at Genworth Financial Mortgage Insurance.



Wedlake Bell boosts its pension department with the arrival of senior lawyer Edward Banister from the Pension Protection Fund.



Alex Denny joins the London office of US/UK firm Faegre & Benson as special counsel and head of the employment group; he arrives from Nabarro, where he was a senior associate.



In Bristol, Veale Wasbrough appoints Naseem Nabi as a senior solicitor in its education team; she was previously at Bath firm Stone King.



Howes Percival hires assistant solicitor Jodie Burrows to the commercial litigation team in its Norwich office; she arrives from Family Law Consultancy.



Heading further north, newly qualified solicitor Laura Baker joins the insolvency team at Manchester firm Turner Parkinson; she arrives after qualifying at Brooke North in Leeds.



Chester firm Aaron & Partners hires two assistants from Manchester practices: Vikki Woodfine (transport) moves from Hammonds, while Rishi Maudhub (commercial property) joins from Rowlands.



In Hull, associate David Prescott joins Rollits to head the firm’s residential conveyancing team; he arrives from Max Gold Partnership.



The real estate team at the Leeds office of DWF is bolstered by the arrival of senior solicitor Stephanie Burke from Beachcrofts.

Personal injury barristers Camilla Church and Katrina McAteer join City firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert from Hardwicke Building.



Wilberforce Chambers appoints senior junior Clare Stanley from 24 Old Buildings.





New practice



Jane Liddington has set up employment practice Liddingtons in Milton Keynes; she was previously at Hextalls in London and will be joined by her son, Jamie Liddington, who recently qualified at Hextalls.
