A Newcastle solicitor and his firm received an accolade for equality work this month at Equality North East’s inaugural equality awards.

Liaquat Latif won the award for individuals who have made a difference, while his eponymous firm came first in the category for employers of less than ten staff.


The firm was recognised for its long-term commitment to equality issues and its equal opportunities recruitment policy.


Mr Latif said: ‘Since the firm began three years ago, we have regularly provided individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds with the opportunity to do work experience with us, to assist them in beginning a career in the law, and provided references.’
