The former general counsel of Mercedes-Benz UK has founded what he describes as a ‘new-style’ virtual commercial law firm.

Iain Larkins said Radius Law will provide ‘commercially astute advice at highly competitive prices’, which ‘would not be possible with a traditional law firm’.

‘Starting with a blank sheet of paper we created an entirely new business model,’ he added.

The business has been established as a limited company and its lawyers work from home. Larkins admitted Radius Law is not the first to adopt a virtual model, but said the business has a ‘clear brand identity’ that directs everything it does. ‘This is in contrast to many virtual firms, which essentially provide a back-office function to support independent lawyers seeking their own objectives,’ he added.

Larkins said the new model enabled him to ‘pick the best’ people from a string of applicants. The team is presently five-strong, covering commercial, real estate and employment law.

Radius promises fixed fees. ‘If a client wants a fixed fee on a high-value and highly complex dispute, then Radius Law promises to deliver,’ he said.

Radius Law has pledged to give 10% of profits to charity.
