A former legal secretary has been barred from working in the profession following her dismissal for abuse of her employer’s air miles accounts. According to a Solicitors Regulation Authority decision notice Amoy Clarke obtained 80 flights on 55 separate occasions from accounts held by City firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Clarke, who had worked for the firm since 2001, was dismissed for gross misconduct in 2019. In misconduct between November 2015 and July 2019 Clarke misused two of the firm’s air miles accounts to book flights and redeem hotel vouchers for herself and friends and family without authority or consent from the firm, the notice states.

The SRA found that Clarke's conduct had been dishonest and ordered her to pay the £600 costs of investigating the matter. Under a section 43 order, she was barred from employment or remuneration in connection with practice as a solicitor.
