Recruitment has begun for a new oversight board set up under the Law Society’s governance review. The Society is seeking solicitor and lay members for the board, which will report directly to the Law Society Council, replacing four current boards.

According to an advertisement which appeared today, the board will act as the oversight body for the implementation of the Society’s strategy and annual business plan, as set by Council.

 The Society is particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals with experience of one or more of:

  • budget and resource management;
  • finance;
  • regulation;
  • risk management; and/or
  • IT and systems planning, procurement and implementation.

The roles are unremunerated although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Board members will serve a three-year term and will be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Applications close on 19 November.
