There really is a "Legal World doesn't count" mentality amongst the general press. Next to no reporting on this on TV and a shrug from the newspapers. Journalists are more horrified by the M&S hack than this.

The government only cares about the law when it relates to prison spaces. Anything else and they're happy to underfund it to the nth degree. The last decade has been disastrous and God knows how much money it's cost and human misery it's caused.
