I am so sick of being told how to be a lawyer.
This latest is giving me a headache.
Does anyone else feel oppressed/stressed by it all?
In what universe do the brightest and best, that take the arduous route to qualification as solicitors, deserve to be treated in this way?
Is the answer to not think about the absurdity of it, instead to accept and let it all wash over us; somehow find the least effort way to comply with this latest SRA pronouncement?
And then down the line, somehow, find the hours and hours in our busy and careworn professional lives to deal with the tsunami of gripes that would inevitably be prompted by this latest SRA brainwave?
I want to say regulation is disproportionate, out of control, and not working.
It would probably be safer to just quietly give up and retire, but I love my profession too much for that.

I remember my boss’s incredulity when, around the early 1990s, we were first compelled to tell clients in our retainers how to complain, before we had even started work. Twenty years later, just look how well LeO is coping.
