The way forward is for a new government to change the law to provide for more than one regulator for the provision of legal services. This will not happen under this "captured" administration, but will be a matter for another party. Compliance becomes more ludicrously onerous-regulations are always augmented, never cut back-and it is increasingly difficult to do business in this regulatory thicket.
To add insult to injury, the Law Society is happy for the SRA to impose more and more divisive Critical Race Theory demands on us and to control our thinking on the issues of the day, even outside the office. The Bar dodged a bullet with the BSB's demands that "barristers shall promote DEI in all they do at all times". I am not so sure we will escape this expectation to become Woke Warriors...
