The Post Office scandal should be an object lesson for the identifiable failures of the Legal Services Board and the Ministry of Justice.

In spite of the clear evidence of the failure of the Solicitors Regulation Authority which has been apparent on Trust Pilot for many years, the Legal Service Board and the the Ministry of Justice took no action.

Only with the Axiom Ince Scandal were the authorities forced into action. The failure is part of a general failure by government bodies to deal with complaints by users in an efficient manner.

There is a need for the government to consider enforcement of the Ministerial Code. The Labour government promised action to legally enforce the responsibilities of civil servants to tell the truth but nothing has been done.

The recently reported Post Office scandal shows that many government department are out of democratic control. There a complete failure to enforce accountability and transparency.

Political pressure should be brought to bear on the Labour Government to enforce its election promises
