@6.30pm - while anecdotal evidence can be found to support most viewpoints, it shouldn't be ignored, and the preponderance of anecdotal evidence is that magistrates are keen to convict, believe whatever the police say, etc. It also suggests that a lot of magistrates assume guilty until proven innocent instead of the other way around. This anecdotal evidence can be disproven ir questioned, but shouldn't be ignored.

I agree, if I am correct that magistrates treat Defendants less fairly than the Crown Courts, then that should be looked at and resolved.
