Leaving the party politics aside, as a solicitor of over 40 years who undertook conveyancing for the 1st 15 of them, I have learnt that one of the criteria of being a competent qualified solicitor is not to blindly do what I'm instructed to do by my client. I have learnt that sometimes it is necessary to ask questions, sometimes to protect my back as well as the client's. I am sure that any competent solicitor would have asked the question whether the client had any interest in any other property?
