When I was young and naïve, I thought politicians were altruistic and did the job with the intention of always acting in the public interest.
Unfortunately, age and cynicism after successive "public school" politicians running the country has shown me that "public interest" is the last thing most politicians are interested in, their own careers and party politics take precedence every time.
