To the person who asked about seeking the views of those who practise other religious views on this tradition, as a Muslim barrister I can happily say none of this bothers me or those I know. Traditionally the English legal profession in our communities has been revered given some of our notable leaders (South Asian - M. Ghandi / Mohammed Ali Jinnah) went to Bar School where traditions back then were even more ingrained than they are now. What makes a country different is its traditions native to its people. I happily sang hymms, did grace and carol services etc in my schools growing up as did many Muslims I know. It was all good fun and made me the better rounded person I am today!
