To the people who say Mr McNulty was only doing his job, I suggest that you read the judgement and see what he did before you make up your minds. It's here: http://www.judiciary.gov.uk/Resources/JCO/Documents/Judgments/r-v-farooqi-others.pdf
The Court of Appeal explains in detail why he was not just doing his job (incidentally, they exonerated him of the allegation that he did not adequately advise his client about his decision not to give evidence).
As for "ignoring the rules of natural justice," the Court of Appeal read Mr McNulty's letter, which they acknowledge at paragraph 12 of the judgement. However he refused to provide a witness statement (para. 14), so it is hardly surprising that he was not called to give evidence. In any event, the Court had the full transcript of the trial, and they quote him from the transcript many times throughout the judgement, so you can judge for yourselves what you think.
