It is a big year for one of Kent’s largest firms, Orpington-based Clarkson Wright & Jakes, Solicitors and Notaries. The firm, which can trace its roots back to 1875, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Although it was founded in Lincoln’s Inn, for the past 74 years its home and soul have been in the leafy climes of Orpington, where Neville Clarkson Wright (father of Andrew, the current senior partner) took over from his father and established an office in the high street.

The team now numbers 80 people, including 14 partners. Events to mark the anniversary include treasure hunts around Orpington and a bottle of champagne for the 150th visitor to the office every month. Oh, and Andrew Clarkson Wright, admitted in 1987, is the fifth generation of his family in the firm. Can anyone top that?
