Lazarus Law: What is the right to life? The right to liberty? What are these vacuous concepts you admire so greatly? Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights do more for the protection of Englishmen's liberties than the ECHR could ever do. The Human Rights Act doesn't even defend the two most important rights in existence: the right to trial by jury, and the right to bear arms.

David Crawford: Indeed. That's the problem with European law, and that's why the common law system will always be superior. British law was simple and unequivocal: don't detain someone without bringing them into court, and don't try someone without a jury. Meanwhile flowery and meaningless European law promotes 'fair' hearing within a 'reasonable' time in front of an 'independent tribunal', allowing the Blairite creature's wife and her pals to waste our precious criminal legal aid on their jaunts to the ECtHR.
