Firstly, I am not qualified. My Job Title is Conveyancing Executive (whatever that means) and whilst I can't call myself a Solicitor or Licensed Conveyancer I have done well for myself, and I have a good wage in comparison to my friends mostly through shear hardwork over the last 11 years.

I used to love my Job, but after the crash things changed - no pay rises to reward hard work, 12 hour days, no support from the management etc etc. A very hard environment to try and work in.

I left for another firm only to find it the same, if not worse, than the last one. Didn't make the same mistake as last time though and put up with it for a year before leaving. I am now going to a firm that has come recommended by three former colleagues who work there now. Hopefully, I will rediscover my previous love for the job and will be able to build my career from there.

Its no wonder Conveyancing has a skills gap, Firms can't keep the decent staff, even those not qualified but experienced. If this latest move turns out to be more of the same, I'm going to bung my mortgage on interest only and start again in a different career path.
