Jerry, what about the 10% of times your 'client' is told, no you can't attend?

What about the times you are asked to deal with difficult points of law? I've often found myself in court against unqualified people - as you rightly say in all tiers of the system. So what? Does the fact that you attend court on numerous occasions in all tiers make you a better unqualified advocate? I can tell you now, that the unqualified person I found myself against on numerous occasions, occasionally representing himself at the court of appeal merely demonstrated the fact that he was totally out of his depth and, frankly caused lots of bother and angst.

It seems you are a decent chap who doesn't charge - that's a very honourable thing - occasionally I represent clients freely if the cause is deserving.

Unfortunately, holding no insurance or legal training - or no guarantee you will be granted representation is surely a reason for your type of representation to be the rare exception, rather than the rule.

Being passionate about something, or giving it a go doesn't make you good. Your requiring surgery from me as a practising lawyer 'because I like medical stuff and have done it before a few hundred times' isn't really much of a comfort is it?
