The large agencies have obviously been lobbying hard, with great effect. So much for the radical changes which were going to lead to improvements in the quality and independence of the medico-legal industry that were first muted - all this seems to do is trim the report fee the agencies will charge by 10% or so, which they'll no doubt look to recover by paying less to the doctors themselves. Otherwise the status quo is maintained - doctors banging out generic, 'change-the-name' tickbox reports in 15mins for £50, which the agency then send on for (now) £180. Why am I not surprised?
