Many small and smallish Solicitors' practices operate close enough to the margin as it is. Take 20% of their gross income away and they will go out of business.

Presumably most of the work barristers wpuld do is contentious. So when their local solicitor is no longer there because he has been put out of business who will do the conveyancing, wills, probates, leases, etc, etc.?

And BTW how does the average inhabitant of, say, Holyhead, on benefits get to see his barrister in the closest set of chambers in Chester, approximately 100 miles away?
