A thoroughly bad idea, and a throw-back to the era of publicly reported contested divorces back in the early twentieth century.

The court system is there to resolve disputes and do justice between the parties. It is not there to provide the media with cheap and easy access to a source of lurid stories, whether about sex or money.

As for any notion that this would assist the media in performing their watchdog role, that is uncritically taking the media's own self-proclaiming propaganda at face value. Any watchdog role is supposed to be exercised by the judges themselves, and certainly not by people who sell newspapers or television programmes.

It is a pity this item doesn't include any details of how one can respond to this preliminary pre-consultation.
