This is hilarious. Lawyer after lawyer slamming a potentially helpful piece of new technology because they fear it will make conveyancing a little easier, a little smoother, and therefore they might not be able to charge as much.
No matter what solicitors say, the conveyancing process in this country is too complicated, and solicitors are to blame for a great many deals falling through because of delays and the magnification of small problems. Lawyers are fantastic at making mountains out of molehills- partly driven by fear, but also driven by a blindness to the commercial needs of the customer.
If a new piece of technology can make the process ever so slightly less painful for the consumers, then we should welcome it with open arms.
And to all those people that say that clients can just get an update by calling or sending an email- answering those calls and emails costs time and or money, which is either costing the client if they are being charged by the hour, or the firm if there is a fixed fee- a total waste of time and money.
Also, let's be honest with ourselves, nagging clients move files forward, quiet ones usually don't. This piece of technology will put more power in the hands of the client, and maybe, just maybe, conveyancing will go faster and fewer deals will fall through.
