.....and if the innovative treatment' doesn't work or, worse still, the patient ends up the worse for it, on whom will the burden fall? The state, of course. Maybe, if the bill contained a provision that a patient electing to subject themselves to such treatment acknowledges that all risk falls upon them personally, support for it would drain away - or maybe it would find favour with the Government, at least!
