I think there has to be some sort of balance. With a 'no fee' situation ex-employees could hold you to ransom. With a 'high fee' situation he cannot contemplate making an application.

The old (i e pre-2000) situation where you could make a pre-hearing application for a hopeless case applicant to be given a warning on costs, but what is the use of that if he is on benefits?

BTW does this facility still exist?

Finally, when Labour in 1976/77 removed legal aid from uncontested divorce it said it was considering bring it in for IT work. Whatever happened to that idea? You just cannot believe a word any politician says, right, left, or centre.

And i am fed up with this election already and there are still 90+ days to go! Bring back the three week position, I say.
