I suspect the only reason the small claims limit hasn't been raised to date is so to give the Govt wanted the insurance industry to come up with an efficient and 'independent' way of assessing compensation for LIPs.

A couple of years of MedCo and in will come an IT based tariff system for soft tissue injuries and once that comes in is there going to be anything left for a lawyer to advise you on and therefore any point in being a claimant lawyer?

Once the lawyers are out the way then they can focus their attention on reducing the awards.
