Mediation is not law. However, it's without prejudice and is confidential.

Parties may utilise this form of dispute resolution to find an outcome that they are comfortable with and move on. If they are not happy with the offers, just walk away.

So much nonsense being spoken about legal implications etc. Bottom line - mediation is an opportunity to make a deal that everyone can live with. Agreed, one shouldn't be pressurised to come to an agreement but that's the whole point of having a Mediator! The Mediator's job is to ensure the parties don't agree to something they are not comfortable with!
