If you go to Stockholm you will see a city where every cab on the rank is charging a different rate. The locals and regular users know what the going rate is, but the tourists and those up from the country do not. Some drivers legally charge 20 times the "going rate" for the same journey.

Although each cab must display a rate externally, the rate card can be manipulated so that the most prominent price is one that is not practically available.

Free markets require consumers to have access to information and a scrum for a taxi outside Central Station is not the place to be informed.

Taxi fares should remain regulated but the supply of taxi plates should not
