If it's definitely grade A work (which a lot isn't) then it justifies £300/hour. To run these cases probably requires considerable cost to the firm.

That said, if liability was admitted straight away then costs should not escalate unless there are huge causation issues that are contested.

Without knowing the case I couldn't comment if the reduction was too steep or not. It may well be a case of a judge jumping on the costs slashing bandwagon again.

Had it been Slater and Gordon the claimed costs would probably have been £100k...
