Arthur, whilst I entirely agree with your sentiments, the courts might just as well not be there for those who cannot gain access to them, we cannot have what we cannot afford. As a country we are broke. We have to have cuts, I don't like the word austerity which to me implies meanness and has intentionally been hijacked to that end. We are spending beyond our means and in 2010 HMG inherited a terrific deficit and debt. Put simply we could not afford tax credits (which BTW only came in in 2008, people are talking as if they existed in the garden of Eden), PPFIs, and two wars being fought at the same time.

Just as a SP cannot carry on if he earns less than his overheads, so a country cannot either. Borrowing is only a short term fix, or should be. But try telling that to Comrade Corbyn.
