Low value whiplash claimants haven't been properly represented for many years. The factories settle for 25p in the pound if the claimants are lucky. Of course the government are in bed with insurers. The Labour party were as well. They doubtless have children attending prestigious public schools with holidays in Tuscany. Cynicism apart, we have a compulsory system of insurance so that people who are damaged can get paid out. Do my fellow correspondents know of anyone who has a satisfactory experience of dealing with motor insurers? They treat crooks and genuine claimants alike, and they certainly don't want any claimant getting proper advice on what their claim is actually worth. What doesn't get paid for under insurance gets paid for by the NHS and through benefits. You can't just make a law banning the tide from coming in and expect it to be obeyed.
